About me.

I would like to study at Manchester Metropolitan University, I would say I am very independent within the way I work and the projects I complete. I am very enthusiastic within photography and see every project as a new challenge that I must complete in order to create strong pieces of work that my audience can understand from the way I have communicated the images. This is shown within my ‘Barbie Girl gone Bad’ work in which I used a subject with strong facial features to expose the ‘edgy’ side of this ‘Barbie’ girl.
Through my projects I have worked in both digital and practical ways to produce final images that are appropriate to the brief. Within my first year of college I worke within the dark room mainly which developed my understanding of using the SLR camera to produce my photographs, in turn this developed my understanding of using the DSLR camera. Within my work I prefer a digital technique as I feel I can do more with this although I still enjoy photographing in film because of the imperfect finish you are given or can create.
I want to study at Manchester Metropolitan because the course I have applied for looks interesting and I know I will learn much more about photography and experimental techniques that will develop my work to a higher level which will help me through being a practitioner. I believe I would love living here, meeting new people and using the area as a canvas for my photographic projects.

Dark Room.

Work within the dark room. My last Project was 'Close up' to experiment with different techniques used within art exploring any (both digital and practical techniques) to produce a final experimental piece of photography.

Personal work.

Some of my personal work with family, friends and animals.

Experimental Image Manipulation.

Within my first shoot of my unit 3 book, which was based on fashion and fashion within stereotypes. I wanted to explore more ways in which I could express the images rather than simply digitally. Through printing these images on black and white onto acetate, I used a metal plate, exposed the acetate to the metal using a studio light and used developer remove the exposed area off the plate. Colour paint can then be applied to the metal and rolled onto the paper.

Barbie girl gone bad.

On location shoot with a friend using car lights and torches to light the model. I digitally enhanced these to add contrast through the black and white and certain areas in colour. Throughout the project I explored ways in which I could enhance the photographs in order to make the model stand out further from the background. I have also included a few pages from my unit 3 book.

Light manipulation.

Throughout my work I have experimented with digital and practical manipulation. The first two images explore the lighting within the studio to explore facial shape, differences between different people (stereotypes) and their facial fashions. The third and fourth images explore lighting and angles (or viewpoints) with the lighting giving the strong shadowing to the side of the face. I love all of these images because of the lighting effects that have been produced within the studio.
